Nick Ball faces another demanding test of his WBA featherweight title when he meets former two-division champion Brandon Figueroa on February 7. The bout will headline a DAZN card at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.
Ball will be making the fourth defense of the belt he won in Riyadh last June with a narrow victory over Raymond Ford. That success followed a dramatic draw with Rey Vargas earlier in 2024, where the 5ft 2in Liverpudlian twice dropped the much taller Mexican champion.
Standing across from him will be Brandon Figueroa - a former WBC champion at both super bantamweight and featherweight. The 28-year-old Texan is seeking his fourth major world title across three weight classes and will enter the ring with a seven-inch height advantage. However, both of Figueroa’s previous title reigns ended against Stephen Fulton, including a decisive loss at 126lbs earlier in 2025.
Despite questions following a disputed points win over Joet Gonzalez in July, Figueroa earned another shot at championship gold. The February 7 fight will also mark his first professional appearance outside the United States.
For Ball, it’s another opportunity to solidify his reign; for Figueroa, a chance to revive his championship ambitions on unfamiliar ground. Watch it live on DAZN.
