A major super featherweight unification bout is officially set, as IBF champion Eduardo “Sugar” Núñez will face WBO titleholder Emanuel Navarrete on March 7, 2026, in Phoenix. The matchup, promoted by Matchroom Boxing, will stream live on DAZN and brings together two of the division’s most dangerous punchers.
The fight has been brewing since September, when Navarrete entered the ring to confront Núñez following his successful defense against Christopher Diaz in Los Mochis, Mexico. Initial plans targeted a January date, but the move to early March gives both champions a full training camp and avoids a crowded late-January boxing schedule.
Núñez enters the unification at 29-1 with a staggering 27 knockouts, while Navarrete brings a 39-2-1 (32 KO) record and years of experience in high-intensity world title fights. On paper, their aggressive styles and proven stopping power have already sparked early “Fight of the Year” expectations among fans.
To allow the unification to proceed, Navarrete’s mandatory challenger, Charly Suarez, has reportedly agreed to a step-aside deal. The arrangement clears the path for one unified champion at 130 lbs, with Suarez likely awaiting the winner under WBO orders.
