O’Shaquie Foster will continue his reign at 130lbs while keeping one foot firmly planted at lightweight. WBC officials have confirmed that the Houston native has chosen to retain his WBC super featherweight title despite recently capturing the sanctioning body’s interim belt at 135lbs. The ruling allows Foster to hold onto his championship at junior lightweight while also receiving what the WBC described as “special privileges” in the lightweight division.

The decision brings clarity to a confusing situation created by the WBC assigning its interim lightweight title to two different bouts within weeks of each other. That issue came to a head when Foster defeated Stephen Fulton in San Antonio on December 6. Fulton, moving up from featherweight, missed weight by two pounds, prompting an emergency petition from TGB Promotions for the interim 135lbs title to be at stake. The WBC approved the request but required the winner to declare within 15 days which weight class he would commit to.

For now, Foster remains without a mandatory challenger at 130lbs, though that is expected to change soon. The WBC has already ordered a bout between former featherweight titlist Mark Magsayo and Michael Magnesi which is likely to determine the next challenger and potentially introduce another interim title into the picture.
