Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua appear to be on course to finally share the ring, with plans now in place for showdown to headline a Riyadh Season mega-event in 2026 as the two British heavyweight rivals have been linked to a fight for close to a decade.

The fight had seemed close at the start of 2025 before Fury announced an abrupt retirement. However, fresh reports indicate that the contest is back on the table, with The Ring revealing that Fury and Joshua are expected to meet next year if specific conditions are met.

According to the report, the key requirement is that both fighters must first compete in separate bouts during early 2026 as part of the Riyadh Season schedule. Fury and Joshua would need to win those fights convincingly for their long-discussed clash to finally move forward.

Fury has not fought since suffering back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, which followed a run of high-profile victories over fighters such as Deontay Wilder, Wladimir Klitschko and Dillian Whyte. Joshua, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back after a fifth-round knockout loss to Daniel Dubois and is also scheduled to face Jake Paul on December 19 in an eight-round bout on Netflix in Miami.
