Unified heavyweight ruler Oleksandr Usyk will walk to Wembley Stadium without the man who steered every step of his pro climb. Long-time promoter Alex Krassyuk announced overnight that he and Usyk have amicably parted ways just four weeks before the Ukrainian defends his belts in a rematch with IBF titlist Daniel Dubois on 20 July.
Krassyuk’s social-media farewell traced their journey from 2013 gym handshake to undisputed cruiser glory, the Tottenham takeover of Anthony Joshua, and May’s second win over Tyson Fury in Riyadh. “Two young dreamers met to change the game… by the grace of God we completed the mission impossible,” he wrote, calling himself “lifetime promoter of the Double Undisputed.”
The split ends a 12-year tandem that saw Usyk collect every major belt at two weights while staying unbeaten in 21 pro outings. Neither side cited a dispute; insiders suggest Usyk’s team, stabilised by manager Egis Klimas, will self-promote under Saudi backing for Wembley, where victory would make him the first three-time undisputed champion in modern history.
Practically, little changes for camp: Usyk remains tucked away in Poland, sparring former Bellator MMA king Yaroslav Amosov and fine-tuning southpaw angles for Dubois’ power jab. Dubois, meanwhile, gains a sliver of psychological hope - yet knows paperwork doesn’t punch back.
Usyk is expected to address the shake-up when London media week begins. Until then, the unbeaten champion trades one familiar face for another British stage, intent on proving the real partnership that matters is between precision and purpose on fight night.
